Subject: Attendance Policy/Request for Leave

In order to stay in good standing, NSCC Regulations chapter 6, section 634.1 states that a cadet must attend 75% of Drills in a twelve month period. Attendance is a key part of the Sea Cadet Annual Inspection.

•    In case of Academic/School Activity cadets are expected to attend drill as soon as they have finished the activity. Cadets are to bring signed documentation from coach, or teacher to back up the claim.

•    In the case of Dr. /Dentist Appointment Cadets are required to bring a release from the Health Care Provider.

Cadets will request Leave form their ALPO or LPO one week in advance of Drill unless in case of illness or emergency.  In case of emergency or illness you need to call and leave a message on the Leave line before First Muster of Drill.  Each request for Leave will be handled on a case by case basis.

Cadets that miss 2 consecutive drill weekends will be placed on probation and notified by letter.  If a third drill weekend is missed the cadet will be dishonorably discharged and notified by letter.

If you do not “Request Leave” you will be reported as AWOL.  A written warning will be placed in your record.  If you are AWOL a second occurrence you will be dishonorably discharged.
